Amber Martin always knew she wanted to be a lawyer, and she is truly happy when she is assisting people and helping them solve their problems.

She has been an attorney for the Martin Law Office for the last 10 years, starting as a legal assistant and then a licensed legal intern. She is focused on criminal defense work.

Martin graduated from the Oklahoma City University School of Law in 2013 and has her bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma. At OCU, she helped examine and investigate wrongful convictions at the Oklahoma Innocence Project. She also was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta law fraternity.

Martin is in practice with her dad, Mack Martin, whom she considers “a huge role model” in her career.

“Early on, he told me that I had to find myown way in law. Everything he does in the courtroom doesn’t necessarily work for me. It has been so important that I find my own way, so that I am authentic,” Martin said.

Martin is a member of the Oklahoma Bar Association and serves on the board of directors. Previously she was involved in the association’s Young Lawyers Division as an officer, including chairman-elect, and on the Law Day committee; the organization named her its outstanding Young Lawyers Division Director in 2016 and 2017. She graduated from the bar association’s Leadership Academy in 2018.
Martin also is a criminal justice act panel member for the Western District of Oklahoma. Panel attorneys are private attorneys appointed by the court to represent indigent defendants when the federal defender’s office can’t.

She also is a member of the Cleveland County Bar Association, the Oklahoma City chapter of the Federal Bar Association and the National Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, as well as its state and Oklahoma County chapters. She is a fellow for the American Bar Association and the Oklahoma Bar Foundation and a current barrister of the Ruth Bader Ginsburg American Inn of Court, where she has been a continuing legal education team member. She also has been both a barrister and an associate of the William J. Holloway Jr. American Inn of Courts.

“I think that the most appealing thing about criminal defense work is that every day is a new day. I have new cases and new problems
